国务院关税税则委员会发布通知，调整原产于美国的进口商品加征关税措施

On April 8, 2025, the US government announced that the rate of “reciprocal tariffs” on Chinese imports to the US would be increased from 34% to 84%. The US move to escalate tariffs against China is a mistake compounded by a serious violation of China’s legitimate rights and interests, serious damage to the rules-based multilateral trading system, and serious impact on the stability of the global economic order. It is a typical example of unilateralism, protectionism and economic bullying.

In accordance with the Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Customs Law of the People’s Republic of China, the Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China and other laws and regulations and basic principles of international law, and with the approval of The State Council, the Customs Tariff Commission of The State Council has issued a notice that as of 12:01 a.m. on April 10, 2025, adjusted the additional tariff rate stipulated in the Announcement of the Customs Tariff Commission of The State Council on the Imposition of Additional Tariffs on Imports of Goods Originating in the United States (No. 4 of the Tax Commission Announcement 2025) from 34% to 84%. Other matters shall be executed in accordance with Document No. 4 of the Tax Commission Announcement 2025.

China urges the US to immediately correct its wrong practices, cancel all unilateral tariff measures against China, and properly resolve differences with China through equal dialogue on the basis of mutual respect.
